Fans of Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2 will be pleased to know the game mode is not only here to stay but will be getting upgraded as well in Modern Warfare 3. Spec ops will gain it’s own progressive ranking system, online matchmaking and leaderboards. Spec Ops will also gain a new mode to it’s prior mission set up known as ‘Survival mode’ that will play out on the game’s multiplayer maps where as the missions in Modern Warfare 2 (and they will again in this iteration) are played out on single player maps.
Speaking to USA Today, creative strategist for Infinity Ward Robert Bowling said the following;
All that stuff really fleshes out Spec Ops and adds in a lot that we know our fans are going to love, some of the most addictive aspects of Multiplayer.
Survival mode will pit players against increasingly difficult waves of enemies, starting from regular soldiers and attack dogs, to progressing to suicide bomber dogs and kamikaze soldiers, that will blow up after you shoot them.
“You definitely have to change up your strategy as the enemy changes up,” Bowling said afterward. “Obviously how you fight the kamakazi dudes is different from how you fight the normal dudes and how you fight a dog is different from a dude and how you fight juggernauts, they are not only big and armored, so they will just brute force come at you. But they each have their own way of being taken out effectively.”
With all the hype surrounding Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 recently (and it’s only going to get worse), why not vote in our poll?
